SPINAL INTERVENTIONS

We offer a range of minimally invasive treatments to help alleviate pain from spinal fractures, spinal and joint inflammation, and other painful conditions.

Joint Aspirations and Injections

To better manage your pain, Dr. Suchin may perform joint aspirations or joint injections. A joint aspiration removes excess joint fluid with a thin needle under x-ray guidance. The removed sample may be sent to a laboratory for further analysis. In a joint injection, a mixture of pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory medicines is injected into your a joint to provide longer-lasting relief.

Verteboplasty

Vertebroplasty

Vertebroplasty is a minimally invasive procedure that treats painful compression fractures in the spine. Vertebrae are small bones which make up the spine. When they are fractured, the pain can be severe and a loss of mobility will often result. The whole procedure takes one to two hours to perform, depending on how many bones are treated. Our physicians will insert a needle through a nick in the skin in the back, directing it under X-ray guidance into each fractured vertebral body. Then they inject a medical-grade bone cement into the fractured vertebra. The cement hardens within 15 minutes and stabilizes the fracture, like an internal cast.

Kyphoplasty

Kyphoplasty

Similar to vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure to help alleviate pain from vertebral compression fractures. A high-pressure balloon is positioned and inflated to help restore height to the compressed vertebra. The resulting cavity is filled with bone cement to stabilize the fracture.
